Let's Hear It For The Trees!

Words and music by James T Lundie - performed by Electric Weasels - published by Frickin Awesome Records.

Verse 1

Let’s hear it for the trees

All their branches and their leaves

And their canopies

The way they sway

Like the movement of a wave

The rushing sounds they make

Let’s think about the bark

How it’s acting like an ark

Full of animals

And how they’re strong

As the days have come and gone

They seem  infallible

Chorus

And as the wind blows

When it’s sunny or it snows

There’s a place for us to go

It’s a shelter and a home

Up above and so below

Though their progress can be slow

They can show us how to grow

Verse 2

Every one of us has roots

But not everyone has shoots

That are flowering

And every one of us can breathe

This oxygen because of trees

They’re life empowering

Without trees there are no glades

Sacred groves or dappled shade

When the days are long

Providing habitats for bats

Singing birds and sleeping cats

Making food for the throng

Day or night standing strong

Chorus

And as the wind blows

When it’s sunny or it snows

There’s a place for us to go

It’s a shelter and a home

Up above and so below

Though their progress can be slow

They can show us how to grow

Solo

Verse 3

Standing firm and growing tall

They have watched and seen us all

Traveling our paths

And like their radiating rings

That translate time to solid things

They warm our hearts and hearths

Every branch who’s taken life

Filled with joy and peace or strife

It can be frightening

Just know the power grows in you

Just like these leaves condense the dew

And that for all things to thrive

Requires darkness and light

Chorus

And as the wind blows

When it’s sunny or it snows

There’s a place for us to go

It’s a shelter and a home

Up above and so below

Though their progress can be slow

They can show us how to grow
